Squash Pie Recipe

Serves 8


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 3/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/4 tsp mace
  • 1 cup steamed squash, strained
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream or evaporated, milk
  • 1 9-inch pastry for pie


1. Add sugar, salt and spices to squash and mix thoroughly.
2. Beat eggs, add cream and mix with squash.
3. Line 9-inch pie pan with pastry and pour in squash mixture.
4. Bake in a very hot oven (450 F) for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 F and bake for 40 minutes longer or until knife inserted in the center come out clean.
