Dutch Slaw Recipe

Serves 12

Ingredients:

  • 3 lb cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup salad oil
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsp celery seed
  • 1 tsp salt


  • Instructions:

    1. Mix cabbage, onion, green peppers and stir in sugar and let stand.
    2. Meanwhile, heat over medium heat, oil, vinegar, mustard, celery seed and salt.
    3. Bring to a boil and then pour this hot mixture over the cabbage.
    4. Chill for a least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
    5. Will stay crisp for a couple of weeks.
