24-Hour Slaw Recipe

Serves 4

Will keep well if kept tightly covered and refrigerated.

Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs cabbage, shredded
  • 2 green peppers, chopped
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp celery seed
  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 2 red peppers, chopped
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp mustard seed


  • Instructions:

    1. Combine salt, vinegar, water, sugar, celery seed and mustard seed and bring to a boil.
    2. Pour over vegetables.
    3. Chill.
    4. Store, covered, in the refrigerator.
    5. Cool for 24 hours before serving.
