Baked Doughnut Puffs Recipe

Serves 12

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted


  • Instructions:

    1. Cream shortening, sugar and egg until light and fluffy.
    2. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg.
    3. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture.
    4. Mix well to a stiff dough.
    5. Stir in nuts.
    6. Drop by tablespoon into well greased, small size muffin pan cups.
    7. Bake at 400 F for 20 minutes.
    8. Combine powdered sugar and cinnamon in paper bag.
    9. Dip top of doughnut in melted butter, shake 2 or 3 at a time in bag with sugar.
