Ground Turkey Tacos Recipe

Serves 8

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 4 oz can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup white cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pickling spices
  • 4 whole peppercorns
  • Cream Sauce with Yogurt:
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup unflavored yogurt
  • Dash ground nutmeg



  • Instructions:

    1. Brown turkey and onion in skilllet over medium heat.
    2. In Crock-Pot, combine turkey, onion, mushrooms, garlic, tomato paste, cooking wine, parsley, and salt.
    3. Tie pickling spices and pepperconrs ina cheesecloth bag or tea ball.
    4. Add to the Crock-Pot; cover and cook on Low 4 to 5 hours.
    5. Remover spice bag.
    6. Prepare Cream Sauce as directed below.
    7. Spoon 1/4 cup turkey misture into each taco shel l.
    8. Top with Cream Sauce.

    Cream Sauce with Yogurt:
    1. In small saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour and salt.
    2. Gradually add milk, st irring continuously.
    3. Cook over low heat until thickened.
    4. Remove from heat.
    5. In small bowl, combine egg, yogurt, and nutmeg.
    6. Stir into hot mixture.
    7. Return to heat and cook over low heat for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
