Chicken Saute with Apples Recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken breast halves, boneless, skinless
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 6 tbsp butter, divided
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 large apple, cored, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  • Instructions:

    1. Sprinkle chicken with salt and lemon juice.
    2. In heavy skillet, melt 4 tablespoons butter.
    3. Add onion and chicken.
    4. Brown until golden.
    5. Add apple juice and broth.
    6. Cover; cook until tender, about 15 minutes.
    7. Remove to platter; keep warm.
    8. In small skillet, melt remaining butter.
    9. Add apple slices.
    10. Sprinkle with brown sugar.
    11. Saute until tender crisp.
    12. Reduce chicken liquid in skillet to 2/3 cup.
    13. Add sour cream.
    14. Season to taste.
    15. Pour sauce over chicken.
    16. Place apple slices around edge of platter.
