Barbecued Meat Patties Recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 lb ground meat
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp half-half
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Basting sauce:
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Dash hot pepper sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste


  • Instructions:

    1. Combine basting source ingredients and stir to blend well. Add dash salt and black pepper. Set aside. 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, egg and onion.
    3. Add soy sauce and ketchup.
    4. Mix half-half and cornstarch.
    5. Add to meat mixture, mixing to blend well.
    6. Form portions of meat into even, rather thick meat patties.
    7. Place patties on preheated barbecue grill.
    8. Broil 3 to 4 inches from source of heat, basting with sauce and turning patties over from time to time for even browning.
    9. Grill 12-15 minutes total or to your liking- time depending on how well you like your meat done.
    10. Serve meat patties on hamburger buns, if you like, or with French Fries.
