Ginger Puffs Recipe

Makes 48 cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup shortening, soft
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup light molasses
  • 1 cup cooked oatmeal, cooled


  • Instructions:

    1. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices into bowl.
    2. Add remaining ingredients.
    3. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
    4. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cooky sheets.
    5. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 F) 12 to 15 minutes.
    6. Remove from cooky sheets; cool.
    7. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired.
