Black Forest Pie Recipe

Serves 8

Each serving provides the following exchanges: 1/4 milk, 1/2 bread, 1/2 fruit, 105 optional calories.

Calories per serving: 214 calories, 7g fat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup plain low-fat yogourt
  • 1 cup skim milk or nonfat milk
  • 4 cups (2 pks) Red-Cal instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 48 fresh/thawed frozen pitted cherries (reserve 8 for garnish)
  • 1 ready to use 9" graham crust
  • 1/2 cup thawed frozen dairy whipped topping


  • Instructions:

    1. In blender process yogurt and milk until smooth; add pudding mix and process on high speed, scraping down sides of containeer as necessary until thick and smooth.
    2. Transfer mixture to large mixing bowl; fold in cherries.
    3. Spread mixture in pie crust.
    4. Cover and refrigerate until firm, at least 3 hours or overnight.
    5. To serve, decoratively spoon shipped topping onto pie; top with reserved cherries.
