Fruit Fritters Recipe
Serves 6 Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp vanilla
Cooking oil for deep-fat frying
3 bananas, cut into 1-inch pieces
Hot fudge sauce, maple syrup or powdered sugar
Instructions: 1. In bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
2. Combine egg, milk, 1 tablespoon oil and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients until smooth.
3. In wok, heat 2 inches of oil to 375 F.
4. Dip banana pieces into batter; fry a few at a time in hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden.
5. Drain on paper toweling.
6. Serve with hot fudge sauce or maple syrup or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Pineapple Fritters: Substitute 15 1/2 oz canned pineapple slices, well drained and halved, for the bananas in above recipe.
Apple Fritters: Peel and core 3 large apples; cut into 1/2-inch slices. Substitute for bananas in recipe.
Strawberries Fritters: Hull 18 large strawberries; substitute for bananas in recipe.
