Apple or Green Tomato Chutney Recipe
Makes about 6 cups Ingredients: 1 seeded chopped lemon
1 skinned chopped clove garlic
5 cups firm, peeled green apples
2 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups seeded raisins
3 ounces chopped crystallized ginger or
3/4 cup fresh ginger
1 1/2 tsp cayenne
2 cups cider vinegar
2 chopped red peppers, seeds and membranes, removed
Instructions: 1. Simmer all the ingredients until the fruit is tender.
2. Put the chutney in sterile jars and seal.
3. May add 1 cup chopped onions and 1 cup chopped nuts if desir ed.
