Apple and Prune Chutney Recipe
Makes 6 cups Ingredients: 8 oz apples, peeled, cored and chopped
11 oz prunes, washed and chopped, (stones removed)
1 lb onions, peeled, and chopped
2 cups sultanas
2 cups apple-vinegar
2 2/3 cups soft brown sugar, pressed firmly
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp mustard seed
Sterilized glass jars
Instructions: 1. Bring all the ingredients to a boil in a fairly large pan.
2. Reduce heat.
3. Simmer, with a lid on the pan, for approximately 2 hours.
4. When the mixture is thick enough, pour the chutney into sterilized jars and close them immediately.
