Apple and Green Pear Chutney Recipe

Serves 8


  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 3 cups sugar, brown, dark
  • 10 large apple, tart, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 5 pears, green firm, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 2 large bell pepper, red, cleaned and coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup currants, dried
  • 1 cup onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup ginger, fresh, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 large lemons, seeded and finely chopped, include rind
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds, whole
  • 1 tbsp mint, fresh, coarsely, chopped
  • 1 tbsp salt


1. In a large, non-reactive pot, bring vinegar and brown sugar to a boil over high heat.
2. Add all other ingredients and turn heat to a simmer.
3. Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 45 minutes.
4. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
