Dutch Oven Doughnuts Recipe

Serves 6


  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp powdered ginger
  • 1/2 tsp powdered cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg


1. Combine all ingredients into a smooth dough, rolled flat to 1/2-inch thickness.
2. Cut into doughnut shape, using additional flour to keep dough from sticking. If no suitable doughnut cutters are available, cut into 2-inch squares.
4. Fry in hot fat until golden brown.
5. Drain on absorbent paper.
6. While frying, keep the fat hot enough to actively bubble.
7. Roll doughnuts in sugar if desired.
