Hungarian Pastry Recipe
Makes 48 cookies Ingredients: 4 cups flour
1 lb margarine
4 egg yolks
8 oz sour cream
For filling use prune lekvar, solo filling, apricot preserves, or anything else you prefer
Instructions: 1. Mix flour and margarine like pie dough.
2. Add egg yolks to sour cream, and beat well.
3. Pour into flour mixture and blend with hands.
4. Put on flat plate and cover with Margarine Paper, cover with dish cloth and put in the refrigerator overnight(this is important). Cut off a piece and roll to a square dough.
5. Cut into squares, then put filling in the middle, fold together corners and pinch, brush with egg yolk.
6. Put in 350 F oven and cook until golden brown, about 10-15 minutes.
7. After baking- dust with confectioner's sugar.
8. To make Margarine Paper: Cut a paper bag into a sheet slightly bigger than a dinner plate.
9. With the empty margarine wrapper, oil the brown paper.
10. Cover dough with oiled side down.
